March Madness – Going Low

If you want to continue keeping alcohol consumption on the low side during March madness, here are some great classic cocktail ideas to help out. Low ABV (Alcohol By Volume) doesn’t mean you have to drink light beer and canned hard seltzers. There is a time and place for those, maybe the lake in the heat of summer!

Using Aperitifs like Campari, Aperol, Cappelletti, fortified wines and vermouth any bartender/mixologist, home or professional can create many low ABV cocktails. Aperitifs are generally light on alcohol and very refreshing, meant to stimulate your appetite before eating.

My go to aperitif is Aperol, which makes a great spritz. A couple more classics that keep with the low ABV theme are the Americano and a Figuratti. If you like aperitifs/bitters you will enjoy these cocktails.

So go light and try one of these cocktails. You are not getting Gin, Vodka, Whiskey, Rum or Tequila, but if you try one of these low ABV classic cocktails you will not be sorry. You can leave the light beer and hard seltzers for the summer outing.
