SUMMERTIME, SUMMERTIME

As promised, a blog on something cool and slushy! (You do follow us on Facebook…right??) After I hit the DaqShaq for drive through frozen daiquiris, I decided to come home and take it up a notch. I love a Negroni and apparently you can make it into a slushy. They do it in Chicago at an upscale bar called Parson’s and I also found a version done by Jeffery Morgenthaler which just happens to be his personal favorite. Check him out at www.jefferymorgenthaler.com. I tried his version of the Blended Negroni and found it to be cold and refreshing on a hot summer day.

Blended Negroni

  • 1 oz gin
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 oz Campari
  • Juice of 1 orange ( I used one ounce of orange juice)
  • 3/4 oz simple syrup

Combine gin, sweet vermouth, Campari, orange juice, and simple syrup in a blender.

Add approximately 8 oz ice.

Blend until smooth, adding additional ice as needed.

Serve in a frozen glass.

Garnish with an orange wedge.
